Concept
The U.S. Census Bureau cites that 17.8 million children live without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home in 2023. That is one in every fourth child, which equates to enough children to fill New York City twice. Let me say that another way: that is enough children to fill Los Angeles four times over, and that is just in the United States alone. Lord, help us all.
Fatherlessness can have several negative effects on children, including an increased risk of behavioral problems, a higher likelihood of homelessness, and running away. Our children are nine times more likely to quit school, and 70% of our children are more than likely to end up in drug and alcohol treatment centers and four times more likely to live in poverty. Those statistics are breathtakingly staggering, to say the least. And as another child is born each day, the likelihood of those numbers increasing is quite possible and highly probable. Let me be the first to say this is not just a male issue; this is an issue for everybody. To those of you who are fatherless or a guardian to a fatherless child or adult, I have a profound message to share. We have an infinite Father, and “absent” is nowhere in His Name. All you have to do is cry out, Abba, Father, and he is at your side like a mighty rushing wind. When you receive the Holy Spirit, you have been adopted by our Heavenly Father; he stands in the gap for the biological father that once was. In Roman culture, an adopted child lost rights in his or her old family and gained all the rights of a legitimate child in his or her new family. Such a child became a full heir to his or her new father’s estate. Likewise, when a person becomes a Disciple, he or she gains all of the privileges and responsibilities of a child who is now an heir to the Throne in the Kingdom of God. Praise God for your new birth in Christ and your riches, glory, and inheritance in Heaven.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for your grace and wisdom today. Woe to those Fathers who have made prideful and unwise decisions to stray from their honorable duties, for you have blessed them with the ultimate gift of life and giving life to another. We pray they realize their inequities and turn from their sinful ways to reignite the love you supplant in all of your children. We thank you for stepping into the void that may fill some hearts; you replace this with all your splendor and grandeur. We glorify your Heavenly Name as you lift up the body of Christ and bring your Kingdom on Earth. We decree and declare that you are our Abba, Father, and you will reach us and teach us, scold us, then hold us, love us and put none above us, just as a good Father will do.
