In the Modern Era, as we all move about our daily lives, grinding, hustling, saving, spending, scrolling, winning and losing. Our ever waking thoughts are based solely on our personal victories, not so much thinking about the victories around the world, the victories that people don't think about because we don’t see them, so we choose to believe it doesn’t affect us. Most of us only thinks about wild life , when they see a deer on the road or right before your annual trip to the zoo or aquarium but the International Fund for Animal Welfare thinks about wildlife, and they have been winning all year. The IFAW is a global non-profit missioned in rescuing wildlife and restoring and releasing them back to their natural habitat just as Jesus wouldve wanted. As the state of the world evolves from online trafficking, poaching, pollution, ocean noise, war and more powerful storms, they tackle the problems that most of us don’t even think about. In 2024, here are some of their remarkable victories. In June, IFAW saved 146 dolphins on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the largest mass stranding the US has ever seen.
This spring, floods devastated Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, impacting hundreds of thousands of people, wildlife, and domestic animals. IFAW supported our partners Tamanduás Institute and the Pantanal Technical Animal Rescue Group (GRETAP) in response efforts.
In total, GRETAP rescued and cared for over 5,000 affected animals, both domestic and wild.
In July, severe floodwaters in Assam, India, trapped unsuspecting wildlife, including two young rhinos and two young elephants, which were rescued by the IFAW–WTI Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) team.
The rescue of these rhinos marks an important step towards protecting the Indian rhino population and saving the species from extinction
Hurricane Helene was one of the deadliest and most destructive storms the US has ever experienced. In the aftermath of Helene and Milton, which struck just weeks later, IFAW supported emergency shelters in Florida and North Carolina to help displaced animals and pet owners. They helped purchase kennels and sheltering supplies as well as providing daily care to the animals.
In total, thier team directly helped 200 animals impacted by these hurricanes.
Marine animals around the world are seriously threatened by shipping activity—the noise pollution it causes and the risk of vessel strikes are of particular concern for whales. So, IFAW is working to move shipping routes away from major whale breeding and feeding grounds, including in the Mediterranean Sea. In August, the first Greek shipping company agreed to redirect its ships to help the eastern Mediterranean sperm whale population. In total, 10 companies have now committed to change their shipping routes or lower speeds to reduce collision risk with these endangered whales in Greece.
and THe most popular victory of 2024 was Evacuating Yuna the lioness
First found by volunteers in the Kyiv region in February 2023, Yuna the lioness was rescued from a small enclosure where she was likely kept for illegal breeding, Yuna stayed at Wild Animal Rescue where she received care.
Yuna made a full recovery, and in August, she was able to be evacuated to her new home—The Big Cat Sanctuary in the UK. After acclimating to her surroundings, she ventured outside and felt grass beneath her paws for the first time., Yuna and seven other big cats have successfully reached safe new homes.
God wants us to care for all animals not just the domesticated animals that live in our homes today. In Deuteronomy 22:4 it states/ “If you see that your neighbors donkey or ox has collapsed on the road, do not look the other way. Go and help your neighbors get it back on it feet! “ Praise our Lion of Judah for IFAW,for doing the work that most of us are unwilling to do.
Lions are Apex predators and are at the top of the food chain in the animl kingdom. With might, stature and valor the Lion is symbolic of our Heavenly Father who reigns and rules over all nations. Jesus was a descendant of Judah which was prominent of the twelve tribes of Israel. Judah represents kingship, leadership and praise. In the End Days our Lion of Judah is the only one who is worthy to open the scrolls of history and is in complete control of how history unfolds. In Hosea 2:18 it states “On that day I will make a covenant with all the wild animals and the birds of the sky and the animals that scurry along the ground. So they will not be harmed in the land and I will remove all weapons of war from the land so all can live unafraid in peace and safety”. This verse is a prophecy where Gods covenant brings peace and safety to all creatures.
